Mission and Scope

The Carbon Markets training initiative complements IETA’s business mission which is to develop active, global greenhouse gas markets as a major tool with which to combat climate change processes and that of Abengoa to develop solutions for sustainable development including the creation of new technologies to address climate change issues.

Learning to become an Effective Carbon Player (2008), one of a series of initiatives and the foundation of a proposed accredited Masters course, will equip professional people to incorporate and effectively manage the challenges of climate change and the Carbon Markets within their decision making.

Participants will, on completion of the 120 hour course of study, understand the salient factors needed to successfully manage the creation, development, promotion and building of emission reduction programmes. They will be able to accurately evaluate the carbon reduction opportunities of projects, access and participate effectively within the Carbon Markets.

The event will also provide a crucial forum for networking with key individuals from both Annex 1 countries and emerging economies providing long term opportunities for all participants.

With Carbon Market leaders, including IETA and major trading house representatives, contributing to the taught programme, participants can be assured of receiving the highest quality learning experience and input focusing upon:
